Checkpoint terms of use

Effective October 25, 2026

These terms apply when you use Checkpoint, the app at checkpoint.nexus, made by Side Quest Nexus LLC ("we", "us"). You accept them when you first sign in and tick the box. Please read them with the Checkpoint privacy policy.

A private beta

Checkpoint is in private beta, by invitation. It's free during the beta. Features, games, limits (such as the number of questions per day) and availability can change. We may end the beta or your invitation, and if we do, we'll email you at least 14 days before, so you can ask for a copy of your conversations, unless we have to stop sooner for legal or security reasons. If we start charging, we'll tell you first, and nothing will be charged without your agreement.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old. If the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to these terms on your own, you need a parent's or guardian's permission. Your invitation is for you: don't share your account or sign-in links. You're responsible for what happens under your account.

About the answers

Checkpoint's answers are written by AI from community wikis, official patch notes and other public sources, and they can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Each answer shows its sources: check them for anything that matters to you. Answers are for help with games only, not professional advice.

Sources and credit

Game knowledge comes from community wikis and other sources, credited and linked under each answer and on the sources page. That content belongs to its authors and stays under its own license, named where it applies:

  • Text adapted from sources under a share-alike license, such as Creative Commons BY-SA, stays under that license, and you may reuse it on that license's terms.
  • Some sources allow only personal, non-commercial use. We use them only in this free, invitation-only beta, and will review or remove them before Checkpoint charges anyone or opens to the public.

Games, names and images belong to their publishers. Checkpoint isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any game's publisher, developer or wiki. If you run a source and want it credited differently or left out, email hello@sidequest.nexus.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • use Checkpoint for anything unlawful, or to harass or harm anyone;
  • scrape it, copy it in bulk, or use it to build or train another product (reusing source content under its own license, as above, is fine);
  • get around its limits or security, or overload, probe or attack the service;
  • put other people's personal information in your questions.

What you send

You keep any rights you have in your questions, screenshots and feedback. You let us use them to run Checkpoint, answer you and improve it, as described in the privacy policy. If you suggest an improvement, we may use the idea without owing you anything.

Our part

The Checkpoint app and its design, and what we write ourselves for the knowledge bases, belong to Side Quest Nexus LLC. Source content in them keeps its own license, as above. These terms let you use Checkpoint for your own, non-commercial use.

Ending

You can stop using Checkpoint and delete your account at any time, in the app or by asking us. We may suspend or end your access straight away if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or to protect the service or other people. If you think we got it wrong, email us and we'll review it. The sections on what you send, our part, liability and disputes still apply after your access ends.

No warranty and limits on liability

Checkpoint is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise it will always be available, accurate or error-free.

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or lost profits or data, and our total liability for any claim about Checkpoint is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim arose and US$50.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else the law doesn't allow to be limited, or rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited. If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, we're also responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these terms.

If you break these terms or the law while using Checkpoint and that leads to a claim against us, you're responsible for the losses it causes us, to the extent the law allows.

Disputes and governing law

If you have a problem with Checkpoint, please email us first: we'll try to resolve it informally within 30 days. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any court case about them will be heard in the state or federal courts in Spokane County, Washington. Either of us may use a small-claims court instead. If you're a consumer in the EU, UK or another country whose law protects you this way, you also keep the protection of your own country's mandatory laws and can bring a claim in your local courts.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before the change applies, and ask you to accept the new terms in the app. If you don't agree, you can stop using Checkpoint and ask us to delete your account. We may make a change sooner if the law requires it, or to fix something that affects security.

General

These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Checkpoint. If part of them can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part straight away, we can still do so later. You can't transfer these terms to someone else; we can transfer them to a company that takes over Checkpoint, and your rights won't be reduced by that.
