PlayPatch for parents: privacy
The browser extension adds a YouTube video, channel or playlist to your own PlayPatch. It reads one address, keeps one token, and talks to one server: yours.
What it reads
When you click the PlayPatch button, the extension reads the address of the tab you are on, to see whether it is a YouTube video, channel or playlist. It does not read the page's content, and nothing runs on the pages you visit.
What it stores
In your browser only: the address of your PlayPatch (for example playpatch.app or your own server), the connection token PlayPatch gave it, and your family's name, so it can show which family it is connected to. Disconnecting clears them.
What it sends, and to whom
Only to the PlayPatch address you entered: the YouTube address of the current tab when you choose an action (send to Review, approve, follow), the kids you picked for it, and the token. PlayPatch then handles it as described in its own privacy notice (playpatch.app/privacy for the hosted service; your server's own /privacy page if you run PlayPatch yourself).
The extension sends nothing to Side Quest Nexus or anyone else. No analytics, no ads, no tracking, no remote code.
Permissions
- activeTab: read the current tab's address when you click the button.
- storage: keep your PlayPatch address, token and family name in this browser.
- Access to your PlayPatch's address: asked for when you connect, for that one address only, so the extension can call your PlayPatch.
Turning it off
Disconnect in the extension's setup page, and revoke the connection in PlayPatch under Settings → Security → Browser extensions; a revoked token stops working at once. Removing the extension from your browser deletes everything it stored.
Children
The extension is for parents and is not meant to be used by children. It never sends a child's name; the kids you pick are sent as PlayPatch's own ids.
